Painting from Photographs
It’s always fun to paint from photos especially if they are mine! This will be the third in a series for a client revolving around ballet dancers. I’m so excited to see this transferred into paint!

Finished this piece for a client! So happy with how she turned out.
May we always find our grace through strength of body, mind, and soul.
This ballerina is ready for some paint!
It’s really fun to see the evolution of a painting from sketch to finish. Drawing is such an important part of the process for me because you never know where it could lead.
“Looking Up”
I’m always looking for new or unusual things while I’m out walking with my dog. It’s so fun to find something that was to be thrown away and turn it into a painting. Today I found these burnt pieces of paper that have such interesting shapes to them. I can’t wait to see what they will be turned into!
Through the years there’s always that painting that just isn’t working no matter how I look at it or change it. Those pieces that have such great starts but are missing their middles and ends. I have a handful of these hanging around my studio. The misfits just hanging out in the background waiting for the moment when it’s their time to become themselves. I don’t like to give up on anything that I think is worthwhile so I hold onto them. Sometimes I’ve had pieces that I’ve worked on…paused on… worked….paused…become frustrated…stopped… and then finally finished years later. These are some of my favorite paintings. It means a lot to have faith in something and not give up because when the piece finally does find it’s way to the world it’s a wonderful thing. They are beautiful because of the struggle and the patience that has made them what they are today.
